Owner and head baker Andrew Ritchie followed the train line from Midland toward Perth looking for a turn of the century wood-fired oven, eventually finding a serviceable oven behind an alley off Maylands’ 8th avenue strip.
Their Whatley Crescent cafe is both a home base for the brilliant bread Andrew bakes, and a chance to take the oven to its limits with woodfired desserts, sausage rolls and croissants.
